Did you know that… tug of war was once part of the Olympic program?

From 1900 to 1920, tug of war was included in the Olympic Games program. During this period, the United Kingdom won twice (1908 & 1920), the United States (1904), the German Empire (1906), Sweden (1912), and a Mixed Team (1900) each won the gold medal once.

Since 1981, tug of war has been part of the World Games.
